Are any of them any good for:

a) everyday wear
b) being warm & comfy
c) not looking completely stupid on someone of my age (it's well known that I don't much care what I look like at the yard, but I don't want to scare the horses or the owners :p)

I loved my Mark Todd jobs but you're only supposed to wash them at 30 which doesn't get the dirt out ... so after a year of washing at 40, they've shrunk by about 3 inches in the leg and about 2 or 3 inches in the waist/hips, so thought tights might be the way to go

I'm going to start by saying, I'm not the sort of model they'd have wearing their products. I don't look good in anything tight but...

I have the Dublin thermal riding tights for winter. I got the half price but in fuscia pink. Hate the colour it makes me look even fatter but, fit is great and they are very warm and comfortable. My long boots will still easily zip up over them. They are worth the full price value. (Wish I'd got a good colour in full price, I'm going to try fabric dye)

In summer I have some noble outfitters riding tights and I'm very impressed. I don't look like I'm wearing embarrassing lycra but I feel as cool and comfortable as if I was. I have two noble outfitters tops and really can't fault the quality so I'd have no doubt about their winter riding tights.

I have some leggings from laflex equestrian and I absolutely love them. They're warm and comfortable without being too thick, they wash well and are a flattering fit. Will definitely be getting myself a second pair

I'm wearing my summer noble outfitters ones with thermal leggings underneath. Cost per wear must be pennies now.

They've got pockets on the bum which I always think is more flattering.

I’ve got two pairs of the Dublin gel seat warm-it riding tights and I love them. No pockets but do have loops for a belt if you need one. One pair has gone a bit bobbly where I think my coat has rubbed it. They’re warmer and more stretchy than my Ruggeds with the full seat which I found quite restrictive.

I am middle-aged and definitely not slim!

Are they as hard wearing as standard breeches / jods?

Well, I've only been wearing mine for 2 to 12 months and they look as new.

Are they as good as my 20 year old Gorringe jods; I'll have to get back to you in a few years.

I can't imagine the sticky bum stuff on the Dublin's will last endless washes but so far so good, no sign of change after 6 washes (considering I don't read wash labels, that's amazing)

I had some mountain horse breeches which went a bit bobbly within one season. I also had some thin Horze breeches which went baggy and ugly after just two washes (they only cost £10 though so great for the days when I'm lifting mats)

Noble outfitters:
A) good last well, had mine around three years now. Handy phone pocket is really useful in the summer as can ride in a T-shirt!
B) Not so warm
C) I haven’t seen them looking bad on anyone, they also are made from a decent material so don’t become see through!

Aztec Diamond:
A) Very thin, super slippy at first
B) Not warm, good for summer as lightweight, however they are so thin my thighs chaff from the saddle!
C) Can be a bit see through, mine have been resigned to very very hot hacking days

Decathlon thermal breeches:
A) only had these a few months but becoming a firm favourite really nice looking and good material (mine are burgundy)
B) extremely warm as fleece lined but not to the point that riding becomes uncomfortable
C) super flattering, ‘smooths’

Those are the three riding tights I have, the rest of the time I am in breeches! Jodhpurs I find are the least flattering thing on myself.

I like the noble outfitters ones too. But they aren’t thick so I’m not wearing them in the winter. They seem to wear and wash well but not had them that long. But they are def comfy not too tight and not too thin either. Pockets are handy too. I rate them.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pair in real life and internet pictures aren’t that helpful, so stupid question coming up. Is the material just like running/activewear leggings or something different? I’m firmly in the leggings-are-not-trousers brigade when it comes to non-horsey wear but presumably these are designed to be worn with a shorter top? I can’t imagine they’d flatter me either way but you never know. It’s not like jods are loose fit...

I am happy to wear my Noble Outfitters summer ones, they are not see through at all. I prefer the ones with the extra material at the top of the legs as they then fit better there, and don't come down between the thighs. They are not that warm in winter bot then I just throw a pair of chaps ontop.

I have some of the thermal tights that were free with a HH subscription. I will see how they go, but they do look warmer and are VERY stretchy. It was a bit of a swizz though, as the advert said they were worth £70, but they were only £50 on the company's own website. I am sure that is not allowed!

I don't trust the plastic grips they stick on most riding tights.

The summer riding tights look like running gear, lightweight and flimsy and I was worried about looking like a big wobbly jelly in them, but they aren't. They work really well. I have been to the supermarket in them but in long t-shirts because of my tummy.

The Dublin warm it's are much thicker (and wow they look far too short) but fit nicely thanks to being very stretchy and have a very flattering cut at the top. They're as warm as my Toggi Arctic breeches and are more comfortable to wear. The Toggi breeches are more flattering, and they are waterproof. Both are equally comfortable to ride in on a cold day.

I'm new to riding tights but I love them. My favourites are by Kingsland which are well designed, very flattering and incredibly comfortable. Daughter bought me some running tights which are great, but for riding, the specialist equestrian tights are much better.

The Noble Outfitters tights are the first 'breeches' I've had that I haven't destroyed in a year. They are very heard wearing and wash brilliantly - mine look like new still. I have 2 pairs I rotate daily and have done now for 2 years. They never shrink or stretch either. I absolutely love them and basically live in them.

The material is different between brands so you do have to be careful. Noble Outfitters ones are like thick yoga pant material. Not at all see through but still light and stretchy. They are very flattering imo. I'm a size 14 and very comfortable in mine.

I had the Dublin Cool It summer tights but they were a bit too lycra and shiny for me. They were lovely and cool but just felt like lycra leggings. The gel seat on them was far too sticky so I sold them.

Have recently bought the Dublin Thermal tights and they are also quite shiny but fleecy lined and a bit thicker and more flattering then the summer ones. Definitely not thermal though and will need tights on under them to get me through winter. I bought them cheap so wont complain.

Have see the LaFlex ones that a friend has and they are similar to the NO ones, really nice material.

Definitely noble outfitters, I am your average size person and they are quite flattering, ridden miles in them (competing endurance) and never had a problem with rubs, have had mine for at least 3 years now and even though they don't look brand new they are not showing much sign of wear, which is a shame as I'd love to have an excuse to buy more!

I love the kingsland ones, have 3 pairs now! They're super comfy and very flattering for a legging, although not particularly grippy so not the best if you want added stickability. I have a pair of the paragon equestrian fleecy leggings with the snake print grip which are insanely sticky (I'm pretty sure they stopped me going out the side door last night!) but the fit was a bit weird so probably wouldn't buy again. I've also got some dublin cool its which are again super grippy but shiny and probably the least flattering of the lot. I don't know if it's just mine, but the seam on the bum also has grip on it which made for quite a painful chaffing experience when I went for a 3 hour ride last summer, which has put me off them a bit.

I have some Firefoot stretch breeches (thin summer ones, although they now make fleece lined ones!) and I love them, some are slightly different material so I have one slightly thicker, more cotton-y pair and one that is more nylon-y but both are so comfy I wear them all the time. They have rubber chevrons on the knee for grip too.

Edit to add: they also make fluorescent/reflective ones. I think the adult ones have phone pockets on the outside of the thigh, the kids ones (which I wear, i'm short!) have the phone pocket on the bum so you can't keep a phone in there when you ride which is annoying...

The firefoot ones always pop up in my searches but I have never known anyone have any so always been abit reluctant. Might give them a go!

Love my Kinglands summer pairs (I just wear a riding skirt over for winter) - theyare the best for me after tring oodles of makes, they hide and improve the wobbly bits the best! I have a pair with just knee patches and also full seat which are more sticky
