Our saint of a starter pony has just been diagnosed with Cushings at the tender age of 12. Going to collect the Peroglide today! Just mulling over the options as we already have the next pony for my daughter to move onto and there is no way that I am selling her, she means too much to us. So the options are to loan her locally as a starter pony, though as we all know loaning can be a nightmare and I'm not sure that I want to undermine her security with us...keep her as a field ornament or put her in foal. Does anyone know if Cushings is a) hereditary or b) compromising to a pregnancy? Any experiences/advice welcome!

It is not hereditary. My mare wiith cushings had no seasons though so you may not get her to take.

It will make her much more prone to laminitis, which is also a danger after foaling? Might be worth thinking about.

You would need to check if Pergolide can be used in breeeding animals.

In fact, the best thing to do would just get advice from your vet!

can't you find someone to have him where he is? That way you don't have to upset him moving him or risk the hazards of a loan
