whos horses with cushings who has at a lammmi bout and on pergolide are out all day at grass and in at night or how many hours do you allow your horses to have?
My cushings pony is despite pergolide ( after several laminitis attacks over the years, but non in recent years) on restricted turn out. He goes out around 7 am and comes in around 1.30 pm. Won't be turned out on frosty grass for obvious reasons, just not worth the risk.
My little on is out 24/7 at the mo and is fine. Vet siad to give it a go and he's v happy especially after spending most of the summer in or on restricted turnout.
when our old girl was still here she was on pergolide, the cushings had caused lami, she had never had lami before. She was out all day in the summer, in at night in the winter, but her grazing was always on a bare paddock and very restricted. The pergolide ended up making her worse as she developed a heamotoma (sp?), swelling and fluid retention under stomach area so we took her off it. Some ponies manage very well with cushings, others not. Hope your pony reacts well to the pergolide.
