Cushionride bedding enquiry

Just wanted to know if anyone has used this bedding or type of and how it has worked for you - have a yard of 16 boxes so need some good feed back to help make the right choice.
What was the packaging like ? suitable to store outside ? how many did you use a week ? Ease to use ? What size is the Muck heap after a week / month !! ?? Did your horse eat it ? Lie down on it ... etc etc etc

Any info welcomed !!
 
Makes a really nice firm bed, easy to muck out and very absorbent. Hardly throw any away compared to shavings as small pieces of wood fall through fork, only wet bits clump together. I bought 10 bags initially just to try, took about 7 to make a nice bed.

You could keep outside but I found the bags tear along the top seam quite easilly so you need to be careful when handling. The price is good but I have found you need to put 2 bags down to properly freshen up the bed so doesn't go as far as decent shavings bale. I put 2 down together but only every fortnight if that makes sense. Overall it is an economical bedding.

Would recommend you try in one stable first to check you are happy with it. I have been very pleased with it, especially for a pony on box rest who needed some decent support under a foot injury. Doesn't move around stable as easily as shavings and straw.
 
I used it a while ago for my old horse and she did really well on it. I deep littered it, topped up with 1 bag per week and found it made a nice, firm bed and the woodchips didnt fly around like shavings can do. Think i put 6 or 7 bags down and this made a good sized bed. The wet stuff sinks to the bottom and the poo stays on top so really quick and easy to muck out and you dont end up taking much of the clean stuff up with it. My girl never tried to eat it and was quite happy to lie down and roll in it. She was prone to bruised soles so had to have a good deep bed and this always did the job very well. I would definitley use it again given the option.

I think they deliver in covered pallets if you order more than 30 bales at a time so i would imagine it would store outside well like this. We only brought in small quantities direct from factory so not 100% sure about this though. As you dont take out much of the bed it doesn't add much to the muck heap.

I used to use this when I lived close to someone who bought it in bulk so I could get it at less than 4 pounds a bale. I really liked it. Used it on rubber mats so only used a bale once a fortnight. Always kept mine outside, but as someone has mentioned you do need to be carefull as they can split down the seem - so best to at least cover with taurpaulin. Rotted down well on my garden

I used to have cushionbed & the packaging isn't very good, the bags almost all split down the seam & of course that's no good if you want to store outside. I am fortunate that I have under cover storage so although it was a nuisance it didn't get wet. I don't use them anymore, I use a local company that manufactures a similar bedding. Their bags are bigger, packaged in stronger bags & being local normally deliver within 48 hours.

Toby_zapod, we use cushionbed at work - I dont like it personally, but would be interested to know what the bedding you use is!!
OP, we have it delivered on 40 bale pallets, the bags are a bit pants sometimes in that they do open along the top, but the pallets are well wrapped and has a 'hat' of tough plastic that can be replaced to keep the other bales dry. At the moment I think the bale price is £4.43, but not 100% sure!
