This might make me sound slightly batty, but never mind... In March of this year, my gorgeous horse died suddenly, and I obviously miss him greatly. I've got a lock of his mane, but I've been meaning to get something else to remember him by like a piece of jewellery or something. Then was on the Julip website, and I started thinking - it would be really nice if there was somewhere I could send off some photos of him, and have a little model made that looks like him. He was coloured, quite distinctively marked, and I'd love to have a little model of him around so that I've got something a bit more substantial than just photos.

Does anyone know of a company that would offer this kind of product?

HI,

Northlight used to do them, I had one of my appy done about 10 years ago, it cost me £135 then!... but I dont think they do it now.. as the company changed hands and is now wade, ive seen a few custom ones on ebay, and some are SO expensive.. (search resin horse, unpainted horse)

however....

I did this one for my daughter, it was her 18th Birthday last week so did it as a gift, (well one of them) Im trying to get hold of a few more models so I can do some more as commissions...Im only going to do Resin ones though rather than plastic as they look better... pm me if you want more details... There are plenty of people out there who would be willing to customise a model horse for you! :) I keep meaning to have a few done, and there is a particular artist in the UK who does some amazing work but I don't have her details! (yet!) I can have a search though if you like? :)

I'm doing one for EMW via the saddle-up auction. I only do them very occasionally . I'm busy with work and real horses now, so only do it as a hobby for myself. But theres a huge community of people out there who customise them.

Julips are very toy like, Northlights arent great. Breyers are better, but you would need someone to customise it for you. Resins can get very expensive, and your looking more in the hundreds than the tens for a customised resin. Let me know if you want any help finding someone, or info on what you should be paying etc :)

Thanks so much for all your advice, you've all given me some good pointers to start looking - it will probably take me a while to save up for a really nice one, but hopefully I will be able to have one eventually! :)
