My mare flung her head today and cut above her eye causing a skin flap i have cleaned with hibiscrub and put some antibiotic gel on it but looks a mess i cannot get suture stripsto stay on . Anyone know of anything i can get to hold the flap in place?

I'd try not to fiddle around with any wound too much, especially one there. It should heal given time. If you're still not happy with it though, maybe phone vet for advice?

It sounds as though it will need a couple of stitches. Be very very careful what you put on the area around an eye as it can "bleed" backwards/forwards/down/even UP into the eye itself and you can turn a minor problem into a major disaster.

Im not sure how big / deep your cut is, but we had a horse on our yard do a similar job. They managed to make a flap over the eye that was hanging.
We had the vet out and it needed 12 staples and some jabs. Id be careful as you can often make more problems in such a sensitive eye area. Maybe ring the vet and ask. Although be careful, our vet was initially reluctant to come out for a "few stitches" but when he came he was shocked, and said it was certainly in need of a "few"

Also if youre not careful the flap may shrivel and die if not taken care of quickly enough.
