Cut leg on front of hind leg

New ponio manged to cut himself the day after i bought him home

He has gouged a chunk out of the front of his near side hind leg and it is right where his leg bends so of course it is forever opening up. Is there anthing i could put on it to help it heal? I have used Aloe Vera Gel but that doesn't seem to be helping. Any advice would be greatfully received!

Hi. Put honey on it. If you can get local honey great, if not off the shelf will do. Before puting the honey on put your hand in hot water, just so the honey doesn't stick to you. Use honey for as long as you need to. Obviously ensure that the pony doesn't react to it, but i've never know anything react to it yet. Good Luck.

Hi there, my horse has a cut in exactly the same place at the mo...vet advised to bathe it in diluted hibbiscrub (you can get it from boots/chemist/tack shop) then cover in vasaline/cut and heal, or aloe vera, if its weeping, try wound powder to dry it up, then alternate with the creams......! Hope it gets better soon.
