I read in a stephen hadley book that you can leave them in the stable with a bridle in (obviously with someone around!) with a bit with a soft mouthpiece, wrapped in a cloth covered in glycerine or similar? Never tried it, but might be worth googling?
Or you could buy some glycerine from the chemists and put some on her tongue - our dentist recommended this for sore mouths. Its nice and sweet I think, so they seem to like it
Thanks everyone. I was going to try him in a hackamore actually anyway, he is really fussy in the mouth and we are having bitting/breaking issues at the moment (hence the cut mouth :-(
I am putting Bonjela on the cut and it does seem to be healing up quickly - I just don't want it to tear again. Poor Ollie.
Alum crystals from the chemist - that's what worked for my horse. Mix a teaspoon of crystal in half a pint of boiling water. Let it cool, then soak a bit wrapped in chamois leather in the solution, put bit in mouth once a day and magic - it really works a treat! Then use something nice like a KK Ultra when healed!
