Hello
My horse has a cut on the outside of cannon bone below his hock - about an inch long and vertical so doesnt open up when he moves. He`s not lame at all but its slightly swollen.

Just wondered whether general opinion would be not to ride him or ride him in walk or just ride as normal - which would be about 45 - 60 mins walking with a bit of trotting. Will it do any harm to trot him if he`s sound?

He is an old boy and I dont want to stop exercising him as I worry he will stiffen up.

I would ride providing the cut is scabbed over (not oozing) and he isn't lame.

put some cream on and walking out as you want to do with help keep swelling at bay :)

thanks - youve all made me feel less guilty!
love your answer polopony - if we galloped we`d have to stop for oxygen after the first 3 strides
