Hattie has a cut on her leg and i think its quite deep.
I have just put a little bandage on it it for tonight so bedding doesnt get in and will let it air tomorrow but she will stay in as fields are realllly muddy at the mo and dont really want an infection.
A few liveries think i should have left it open but Hattie has had a leg infection before and i didnt want to take any risks what do you guys think? Should I have left it open?

When my horse got kicked and had two deep cuts we called the vet and he gave her some antibiotics and bandaged it up.
Another livery later put wound powder on it and it got an infection :/
But I think you were right to bandage it up for the night.
Is it really deep?

if you think the vet doesnt need to see it i would keep a bandage on it. then you can put her out in the field to. it would be better for her to be walking on it to keep the circulation going otherwise her legs might fill.

If you think it's deep, you really should get a vet to look at it. Once an infection takes hold it can be a pain to draw it out when it is deep, and it makes horrible scar tissue. A course of antibiotics could stop the worst happening.
