Cut on leg!!!!

Merlin had a cut on the inside of his hind fetlock this morning.

Not very big.... had bled a bit so fairly clean and not hot or swollen.

I washed it off and worked out that its about 1cm across and not gaping or mucky.

Think he may have caught himself with his shoe (new a week ago) or caught it on a stone while rolling????

I left it, after washing it and put some purple squirt on it, then this evening checked, washed and squirted it again with blue squirt....

So long as its not hot shall I assume all is ok.... he isnt lame at all either.

I would have thought it'd be ok. Keep it clean, washing it out with salt water. Keep an eye on it but I'm sure you'll have no problems, especially if it's not gaping.

Deffo not gaping..... just wish I knew how he did it.... he is out on his own, no barbed wire and recently shod with no sharp bits

My horse, Jerry, cut his front leg when I had him on a 2 week trial. I had my previous horse for 9 years and kept him in the same field for all at time and he never cut himself!
Horses eh?!

Last summer merlin kept on coming in with long deep scratches on his neck.... each time they healed up he got another one!!!

dont know where they came from, couldnt find anything he could have done it on, but since being in half of the field instead of all of it, it hasnt happened.

Dont think i want him back in the other half now
