Cut pad - what do I do?!

Just come back from a walk and noticed some blood in the back yard. The border collie has cut a pad on his back foot open. Both dogs are filthy but I have washed the poorly foot - what next? Bleeding seems to have stopped. Do I just leave it, or cover it with something?

My Airedale had this last week. I washed it every day with warm, salty water but for the most part just left if alone. It's all healed up nicely now. If you notice any signs of infection I would head to the vet ASAP.

H is the king of cut pads.

Clean it up and leave it uncovered (as long as the dog isnt licking it) as much as possible. Cover it if you go outside to keep it clean. The last cut he did kept splitting open even with him just pottering around the house so I had to bandage that for a week or so. Grrrr

I use spray disinfectant then spray plaster to seal it and try never to bandage or stitch.
You can use an old Chinese takeaway tray to dunk the paw in to clean it.

Thanks everyone! He's had a bath so its clean and dry now. I will bathe it and keep a close eye on it.
