Horses summer field isn’t quite ready for them to move yet but the field they’ve been in for winter has just been topped. Only the rushes have been topped (star sedge I think) but I’m treating it the same as cut grass aka - not putting the horses back on it. Am I right or are the chopped rushes actually likely to be ok to turn them back on … it’s <1/5 of the field and plenty of other grass… I’m a horsey hypochondriac.

It’s probably safest to treat it as cut grass, but I’d be highly surprised if a horse ate any cut rushes when there’s new shoots of green grass coming through everywhere.

Yes I’m going to have to I think… annoyingly cob pony doesn’t stay in his new temp pen (also with plentiful grass, and his friend he’s meant to be a companion for 🤬). I would generally be surprised too but I can’t put it past them especially little escapee cob who quite likes a nibble on them when they’re growing. The endless headache of keeping horses healthy and alive continues …
