NOT MAJOR- Silly really

Well i was in the school about 30mins ago was talking to friend i was sat bareback on my pony other friend had hers in hand we were stood nextt to each other when they squealed spun round and started kicking each other, we finally got them to move away i walked my pony round, she was sound, got off had a check she had a cut on the side of her leg just above her hock, it was bleeding a bit and is slighty deep but nothing major at all. I bathed it in salt water then put wound powder on it. Will check it in the morning but just wanted to know if this was the right thing to do if not what should i do put on etc??
As long as its fine in the morning (not bleeding not lame not too swollen etc) am i okay to turn her out??

Sorry it so long for such a smal thing just want tto make sure this will be fine.
Thanks in advance

Do people still use wound powder? I have to admit I haven't used wound powder for at least 15 years. I always prefer an ointment; Furacin (has a different name in the UK) is by far my favourite. Next time your vet is out you could ask him for an antibiotic/antiseptic ointment for injuries such as these.

Depends on how bad/deep the cut is as to what you should do tomorrow. Little cut should be fine if it is packed with Furacin or suchlike but if there is swelling then although you still want pony to move around, you don't want her cavorting in the field.

Best wait and see what tomorrow brings.

I say if its deep then probaly not best to turn her out strait away incase of infection. If it is over the joint and not superficial then you will probaly need a vet as constant movement prevents closure of the wound and a infected joint can be detrimantal. what you have already done is good, most importantly keep an eye on her.
