Cutting leather straps

Hi guys.

I need to shorten the straps on my breastplate as I have put extra holes in to get it to fit (the next size down is too small) anyone know how to make a neat job of it?

Scalpel, model knife or Stanley.

Take it to your local saddler who will undo the stitches, shorten it and re stitch for you.

Thanks - I suspect a saddler would charge more than it cost to do 5 straps. I think it will have to be a Stanley knife.
