Hi thank you ! Yes any news very appreciated ? X

Hi Noahsark,
Not sure what your story is but mine started last October when I purchased a 6yr old ID X gelding. To cut a long story short he turned out to be not suitable for a novice as described in the advert. Our main concern is that he will not stand at a mounting block and any attempt to get on results in wild bucking (yes, he was tried 3 times before purchase) now having to go down the vet route and so far it's not looking good. Numerous attempts to contact seller, started a small claims but they appear to have vanished from York :( x

Have just seen this letter and it sounds too similar. I bought a 3yr old shire/TB from them in Oct 2013. Saw her ridden in walk and trot and longlined. No problems. She passed a vetting.Turned her away for the winter and have just started her basic ground work training. She is brilliant, BUT has occasionally thrown in a huge buck or two. I assumed it was due to youthful enthusiasm. I have slowly introduced the saddle and got her to stand at a mounting block, and have leant over her and she has taken my full weight without a murmur. When I tried to get on her, with my instructor there, she let fly with a huge buck and I was very lucky not to have been injured rather than badly bruised. My instructor was horrified as nothing in my mares conduct would have led us to expect she might have done that. She was completely calm and as she had been previously backed we did not expect that reaction from her. There is no malice in her, so I am now going to contact my vet to see whether there are any physical issues to sort out. Yeoman

Who are CW equestrian?

CW equestrian were horse dealers operating from a yard between York and Wetherby. I saw my horse Melody advertised in 'Preloved' in October2013 and went to see them. They were very open about their business, and did not mislead me in any way about her. The owner was M Conway and she and I had a good discussion on the pros and cons of Monty Roberts and Parelli! Her son tacked up and rode Melody and all the time I was impressed by the slow and kind way she was handled. I certainly didn't see anything that worried me. I realised that taking on a youngster with my inexperience would have issues but she is of such a kind nature and virtually bombproof (apart from sheep) that I decided to buy her and she has more than fulfilled my expectations. Except for the bucking! That is why I was interested to see that someone else had problems too with a horse from them.

Reading the status you have shared above was your horse turned away for a while? Getting veterinary advice would be a good idea incase she has sustained or formed a genetic or made injury. You say CW were very honest, have you rang them?

They were certainly honest about Melody's history. As she was only 3 I spent the time doing 'scary objects' like tarps and balloons etc and walking her out, but made no attempt to ride her. She also needed wolf teeth removing and injections etc. She was 4 in April and we have started doing ground work and accepting a saddle etc, all fine. We are taking it very slowly. I went on the internet to find their phone no as I have mislaid it, I did have it, I do have Michelle's address on Melody's passport, but it sounds from the other letters that they may have moved. Their yard is too far from me so I will drive round and see what's what. Yeoman

Did you buy a horse named Joker?
I bought a horse from them after calling about one named Joker which was advertised as safe for novices and I was told it had sold ...but they said they had another similar one still there. I Was reassured that the horse was suitable and safe for me. Things turned out differently and although the horse is ok now it took a lot of work and expense to get her there...

No I bought a shire/TB called Melody. I think her bucking was really due to her age, and the fact that she had had a year off. When I bought her I knew she was very green which is why I have put in a lot of time to ground work. Having spoken to many experienced horsey people it sounds quite a common occurrence with youngsters. I am getting someone more experienced than me to re-back her and hopefully this will be successful. Yes, I did have the vet check her , said nothing wrong, just a 'teenage' issue!
