Hi I am looking for any opinions people have on Cytek shoeing? It is a new one to me and have just had a farrier out who told me that it is the best thing since sliced bread. Does anyone have any opinions/advice re going down this route?

In my opinion its a pile of horse poop!

This was big around here about 8 yrs ago but it seems to have dropped of the face of the earth in the last few yrs!!

However, I did have a horse on loan that had cytek shoes when we got him! he's feet were a state, rather than being the normal rounded shape of a natural foot, they were square!

they fit the shoes so that they wear down their own toe, so therefore you shouldn't have to have them done so often, but I got my farrier out who almost cried when he saw the horses feet as it turned out he used to shoe the horse a few years back and had made some massive improvements, to his crappy race horse feet but he said they were worse when we got him than when he first saw him years ago! so he then had to spend time trying to make good of a bad job!

so all in all, id never put cytek on a horse of mine!

kerriberry your letter is a pile of poooooop
cytek horseshoes have saved more horses from crippling rim shoeing than your aggresive letter has. Make yourself conversent with FACT you know nothing about Cytek horseshoes ,they are not square or been around for 8 years , any other horseowners reading this please visit YouTube and see the Cytek videos and check out what's going on in the rest of the world ,,,,,here is another link, http://www.facebook.com/JohnBriggsCytekFarrier?filter=2 . I use Cytek shoes on all my 300 horses so stick that in your pipe kerrisberrrys.......

Hmm. Poster who only ever posts about Cytek and gets aggressive each time :(.

I don't know much about Cytek shoeing. It's a nice theory behind it, but possibly let down by poor practice in the field.

There is no such thing as a 'magic shoe' - but most remedial shoes or special shoes are an attempt to mimic the function of a natural hoof...albeit with improved break over of support at the heel. Perhaps consider this before spending more money than you need to?

Cottontail asked for everyones experiences about cytek, I gave my experience!

Cytek was very popular at least 8yrs ago on a yard where I kept my horse! I haven't been on that yard for 8yrs, so its was about then! the cytek farrier then moved to Aus to spread the word over there! !

I'm not interested in what you have to say, I have my opinion and you have yours
