So has friend of a friend been lying to you for the last 6 years or have you had no contact at all about your horse for all that time?

no ,as far as we were aware the lad darren was still in contact ,have only just found out that he hasn't been in contact with them ,his parents live round the corner from my parents ,so we always knew where to find them ...little did we know that she had gone missing ,he should have told us and he didn't ,theres not a lot to be done now but keep trying to find out who these people are ???

I wonder if this is entirely innocent - and 'someone' thought that the pony was theirs to do with as they wish......

I agree with JMO7, I haver never loaned a horse and allowed it to move off the yard I have been on. Though if I did the least I would do would keep in telephone contact if circumstances ment Icould not go to see. Though they would have to be bloomin servere reasons why I could not do a check every now and then

it may well be innocent ,i appreciate that ,but i just want to know that she is still being cared for ,i was under the impression my mum was aware of her whereabouts
,i was abroad for many years and returned and accepted that someone else had her ,and that she was no longer mine ..i truly believed it was not my place to interfere as she had been given to the trusted care of 'darren' so when i saw her in one field or another around the area i was quite content with a cuddle ...as i say no one knows whats happend to her we have been duped

the cicumstances were very complicated ...the field we had rented for over 17 years was taken from us ,in a very short space of time ..everyone had to find grazing wherever we could ,thats not when we lost track ,darren always kept in contact up untill these last people moved her ..he's probably very ashamed

Did your mum I take it who was dealing with yur horse tell them they could have the horse or loan the horse. I have known of a few horses given away as owners were more concerned about a good home than money, one took the horse who competed ode and dressage only to sell few months later, sadly the owner had given her the horse on a home for life basis

yes it was agreed to be a 'permanent loan 'on the basis that we always had news of her ...i didn't particuly like it but i was away ..and i knew darren would care for her..so was happy to leave things be ..as i said once i came back the occasional cuddle over the fence was wonderfull ,it was always agreed that if darren no longer wanted responibility of that we would have her back ..he had given her on loan a couple of times ,very successfully ..untill this last

Well I'm afraid if she had been 'given' to someone then he's free to do with her as he wants.......

And if she was on loan, then of course you had every right to check up on her well being. Surely that's not interfering?

When was the last time you saw her in one field or another around the area?

And someone does know what's happened to her - Darren and his parents. Just ask them.

this all came to light today i have been trying to get hold of darren for months not desperatly but popping round whenever i was in the area ,just to arrange a visit ,as i say wasn't really worried at all ,untill another friend i hadnt spoken to for years let me know that something had happend she put it that 'darren should have told your mum ,the police should have been involved ' i last saw her about 6 years ago mum new she had been moved ,but we never heard any more and presumed she was still in the area ,she is actually a smaller version of yours ,exept her main and tail are lighter, mum is going round tonight to see his parents ..maybe if we had a name at least ..i really appreciate your time on this

What a bizarre story.

I just don't get how somebody who loaned out a much loved horse, finds out it is missing SIX YEARS after they last saw it...

it's all Darren's fault, though Dubs.

Good luck. It wont be easy to find her but you never know.

Definitely try to get a photo of her to post. Hopefully she is in a good home or in horsey heaven having had a good life. I guess you just need to know.

But the whole point is that, harsh though it may sound, I feel sorrier for the horse than I do for you.

I just think it's a bit rich to kick up a fuss now, when, you never once bothered to check on it's welfare in at least six years. For goodness sake, you just admitted that you don't even know it's proper name.

It's so bizarre, I thought it was a p!ss take when I first read it.

Me too!

You gave the pony to Darren on permanent loan. None of your family has been to see it (in the eyes of Darren anyway - giving it a pat over the fence is completely different to arranging with Darren to go and see the pony, asking him what she's getting upto etc)

You or your Mum were aware that Darren had sub-loaned the pony.

Really and truly it should then be down to you or your Mum to check on the pony's welfare, not Darrens'.

Even if you were away - surely you could've phoned?

If I'd had a pony on loan and hadn't heard a whisper from the owner in 6yrs I'd probably think they didn't want it back or care.

Apologies that you do care. But 6 years is a long time. The pony could've be at the other end of the country and changed 'ownership' 20 times.
