Trotting along today with Mrs Bonkers (her new name) trying to pull my arms uot theor sockets when MASSIVE spook (at a bit of plastic) to the right bashed my knuckle almost out of its socket onto her neck. or maybe it did. Huge pain.Had one of those 'oops am coming off moments but thankfully recovered else would have amused the walkers gawping at us)

Came home and have strapped my hand up tight (so can type one fingered lol) but do hope there's nothing broken. SURELY banging hand on horses neck couldn't break anything? Really swollen too.

Really annoying as still have 3 days hol left and don't know if will be able to ride tomorrow.

Oooo, I broke 2 fingers by doing that when landing after a jump! Not good & v.v.painful, my recommendation would be go to casualty asap before the new years rush starts, either that or go buy lots of drugs to get you through to the 2nd!

id get it checked out just in case. My mare did this in March but I came off, 1 painful hand. Rode home, and eventually went to A&E. Found id fracture the lower digit of my finger in 2 places and had to have it operated on. Didnt look anything particularly out of the normal, swollen and bruised but the xray was spectacular.

The wires were in for 4 weeks which meant I couldnt ride my mare but I was back riding as soon as they were out.

You may have subluxed the joint (partial dislocation). Might be a good idea to get it checked out

Bother! So it could be damaged then? Thank you to all previously similiarly injured peeps. Think will see how feels in the morning and maybeeeeeee take a trip to casualty.

Can you believe two hours beforehand my OH had just programmed our nearest A dn E into Tom Tom? I blame him!

Def get it checked out!! Did something similar and just strapped it up for a few days but didn't get any better - happened to be working next door to an A+E so popped in and was diagnosed with a spiral fracture and had to have it operated on and pinned in 2 places. I was surprised how seriously the hospital viewed it - was sent for a course of physio after op. When you think how much we need our hands I can now see why I got such good care.

I did this too - spiral fracture of the last bone in my hand. Didn't look like it was broken to me - just that my little finger was sticking out sideways a bit when I took my glove off. Was put in a cast for 10 days & then told not to knock it on anything for the next month!
So definitely get it checked out.

You're all wimps.
I've broken 3 or 4 fingers....but could never face sitting in casualty so taped them to their friends with electrical tape...they healed ok...well...one has a few bumps....

Have to confess I did think about Duct tape... briefly... before remembering our quite well stocked first aid drawer at home....

Still hurts. have bruising on inside of palm now. Never had that before. See what is like in morning...

I'm into DIY solutions too. Having said that, the finger I mallet fractured when I fell off once could probably have done with a bit more - 30 years later it is still odd and lumpy.

I'm lucky in the fact that OH is a paramedic, so dont have to visit casualty very often (apart from blows to the head by landing on it) and even if I did have to go, i can get there quicker as the car is all striped up with all the lights and siren!!! And I dont have to pay for hopsital parking as the car is classed as an ambulance!!!
