I've been schooling various wee ponies and horses and have been utterly neglecting my big lad.
I RODE him today, and by RODE, I mean, actually got him to work and it was FABULOUS.
I haven't ridden him in about four months, only lunging, and hacked out once last week, oh and a walk in hand down the lane.
Well, I couldn't ride him on a hack, there was far too much neck, and bottom, and the movement just threw me about, I looked a right pleb. I was utterly baffled by the sheer amount of horse!
I got my act together today however, and he went quite well for a hairy unfit dressage diva. Lateral work was ok, however I think I over use my right leg and I can't use my left one, excercise bike for me I think! Halts were a bit dodge, he's very fresh and fidgety. We either have extended trot or on the spot, and he take it upon himself to go sideways at speed whenever he likes.
Apart from that, and being very fresh and strong, he was golden, and even the mother was impressed
Her comment was 'is he doing that by himself or are you making him do it'...
It was a combination of both lol
We also did a jump (neither he nor I jump), it was about two foot, he cat leaped it about 5 foot, I also attempted a manky old tyre jump, and he looked at it like, 'as if I'm going anywhere near that' about 100 yards away from it. He is far to posh for jumping don't you know, especially muddly old XC ones.
As you can probably all tell by my waffling I love my horse very much and am most pleased to be back in the saddle
Burgers and salad for anyone who reads.
