£40 a week for DIY livery (inc water, hay, stable, grass, straw)
£54 every 6 weeks for shoes
£42 a month for insurance
About £120 a year for jabs and teeth
£18 per lesson or for instructor to school him, as often as I book them

The rest depends on how much and what I feed, which competitions I go to, whether I have to hire a lorry etc.

Hmmm...this is scary!

3 horses. Livery includes ad lib hay and straw - £25 per week, so £300 per month for the 3.

Shoes every 6 weeks - £60 per full set for 2 of them, £30 for front shoes for the other, so £150 every 6 weeks.

Insurance is about £350 per year, per horse...i think!

All good-doers, so not much hard feed - handful of Happy Hoof each once a day in the winter, and only after hard work in the summer.

Plus the usual wormers, vaccinations, and any extras from shopping trips! Oh and trailer insurance...and petrol.

Oh, and one is on cortiflex as well!

Dont want to add it all up, because i'm scared, and i graduate from uni this week, so will have to get a job and start contributing more!!!

Never been on livery as i live on a farm, but my 5 cost me about £80 per month (hay, straw, stables, turnout, etc is free), so only pay for farrier and feed, mum pays for wormer and insurance at the mo.

But im starting a livery yard in the next few months. Grass livery is £25 per week (includes hay, checked at least twice a day and poo picked 3/4 times a week). DIY will be about £45-£50 (includes hay, straw and use of loads of facilities). Will aslo do assisted DIY.

Hmmm think I am getting ripped off on my DIY grass livery at £3.50 per day including nothing else.

[/ QUOTE ]

Does seem a lot, I pay £16 p/week for grass livery but have the use of a stable if required. Only staying there whilst my grass grows in my own paddocks but generally grass livery is arounf £15-20 a week in my area.

£20/week livery - includes straw when he's stabled
£2.75/bale of hay - I expect him to eat 6-8 bales a month in winter, he's not really having any now
£8 bag of happy hoof, should last 4 months in summer, probably will last 2 months in winter
£15 having his hooves trimmed every 10 weeks approx
£20 on insurance, although this will soon double when i get rid of my high excess!!

I think mine is fairly cheap to keep, although obviously there's all the trips to the tack shops and little things like fly spray to add in!
