Daft thing! Mine just stands in puddles to try and avoid being caught... but if we are out and about he can’t possibly put a hoof in one....

Likewise. Mine can't possibly tread on a wet bit of road out hacking, because we might die, but turn him out in the field and he will do his very best impression of a hippopotamus.

One of mine makes ponds in a teeny bit of water in the field and then the other wallows in it / plays in it - they've started doing this for the first time in 2 years of being at this yard - I'm a bit worried what the YO will say when she sees it.

Its the "welfare look". Term first coined some years ago as one of my friend's horses had the look perfected in this sort of weather; the water being a variant of mud, more points were scored if she could achieve this while being in a field by a public road or path where she could attract more pity and approbrium to be heaped on her hapless owner. Good to see the tradion being kept alive by your good mare ;):D

There is only one massive puddle in the field. The other side of the field is actually on a steeper slope and the water runs off perfectly.

But it wants in and must look as pitiful as possible.

Note, other mare can’t be seen because she’s grazing on the dry bit. Because she’s smart.

Ha ha unusual for an Arab thet tend to dislike water, Arabi wouldn't even go near that Louis on the other hand would also be in it out of curiosity more than anything.
