After a couple of days in, I turned the horses out this morning as the frozen ruts had melted. It was still a bit slippery though so I led them through the gateways. All three girls walked out sensibly and waited for their hay. Beowulf, though, shot out like a rocket, did a couple of circuits of the field flat out, tried to put the brakes on for the electric fence but his feet carried on going from under him and he was flat on his back tangled in the fence! Luckily it snapped where I had mended it and he was fine, checked him tonight and no damage, but it confirms my theory that geldings have less self preservation than mares!

Lol! Woopsie, glad the fencing snapped.

Mine fell over, twice

Both from galloping then screeching to a halt and his bum going from underneath him and then another form turning far too fast and going splat on his side

woopie daisy, be your heart stopped for a second though!! I have had the opposite experience my mare was the one to take a tumble.. although she wasnt being silly she just hit a funny patch. Glad your boy is ok.

Hi Dogstar,
Just for a laugh, all, my daft (male) dog did exactly the same on our frosty field this morning! Sensible bitches didnt. (Message there, somewhere!!!)

Hope all friends are ok in snow + ice (while another warning about global warming is imminent from government..........? From Stockholm summit meeting?!) (Didn't they get snowed in there?) (Prob get expenses from EU this time???!!)

Seriously, Dogstar, so glad everyone's horses ok as far as we know. I leave my lot out (unclipped, but rugged), with free access to hay + stables, which keeps us all normal, but appreciate how lucky i am to be able to do this, as it's our own land, albeit clay (I'm NW England). My thoughts + concerns are, as usual with our more Northern + Western friends - i think Scotland, Cumbria + Wales have had a bit of a bad time lately, to put it bluntly.......

With sincere best wishes to my friends in other parts of country (+ maybe we need to travel our own country more, enjoy its people? That's enjoyment to me, + i can take my dogs too!) With every best wish to all, BS x
