Google was no help whatsoever. Would have been helpful if I were male, if you catch my drift *blushes*.

When measuring the length, it is the whole length, or excluding where the part with the buckle starts?

I wish I was joking Tern! First thing that came up was 'how to measure the girth of your penis'!!! I'm no prude, but I was horrified! (And then realised I should have added 'horse' or 'tack' to the search! :S

Thanks, I've never been told but need a smaller one (yay!)

Traditionally it was from the bottom of the buckle tongue to the same the other end, that was how Saddlers who made them measured them.
Now that most girths are made by manufacturers rather than saddlers, they tend to be measured end of buckle to end of buckle the other side, lots of traditional saddlery techniques and methods are largely gone now.

Thank you Cremedemonthe- if I were to buy online, should I go with the latter, do you think? (Can always measure when I receive it, and return if need be...)

Bahahaha. :D :D

I promptly deleted my search history!!!
