Hi everyone
A belated Happy New Year!
I always seem to be on here asking for help which I apologise for, but is there anybody on here (or does anybody know anyone) who might be able to give Dai, one of our rescue ponies, a new home? People may not know that we have rescue horses and ponies but we are still responsible for all of the surviving ex-residents of the old BHS rescue centre.
Dai is a 12hh (approx, may be slightly bigger), grey gelding who is 18 years old (his date of birth is incorrect in one of the links below in case anyone gets confused). He is a sweet, nice pony who needs a new home through no fault of his own. His current loaner is needing to cutback on numbers (she has three BHS ponies and plenty more) so we need to find him somewhere new to go.
The only problem is that Dai needs a certain type of rider - he is a second pony, not really a first. He is not nasty or naughty but he can be quite strong (oddly this is really just in the school, he is very well behaved on hacks and just tends to plod then!) so he needs a confident, able rider. Obviously, it can be hard to find someone suitable due to his small size. He jumps well (not huge fences obviously) and has done Pony Club camp so he is a useful type, just a little forward going so no good for a beginner. He is easy to handle from the ground though and good on a lead rein (just not great for making the transition from on to off the lead rein!).
He is currently being ridden by a couple of confident children and has proven to be an absolute star for them. The last time we homechecked him he had kids running all around him and behaved brilliantly. He is genuinely a nice chap.
He needs his weight closely monitoring (he will double in size given half a chance) but other than that we are not aware of any health problems.
I hope this doesn't count as advertising as we are certainly NOT looking to sell Dai, he will always belong to the BHS and would be subject to regular home inspections. (Admin if I have done wrong in posting this then I am really sorry!)
There is a bit more info about him here:

and here:

We have plenty of photos of him and there are some on our Facebook page.
If anyone would like to know any more then please do not hesitate to get in touch with us on welfare@bhs.org.uk or post here and I will reply
I really want to find Dai a cracking home so would be very grateful if anybody out there thinks he may be right for them. Thank you for reading this
