Hi,

I have just seen another post in here which has made me question - If a horse is having 1 sachet of danilon daily how long does the pain relief last? Im asking this because the post I have just read says it lasts for 12 hours pain relief - In that case if I feed my danilon in the evening feed when I ride the following eveing the pain relief will not be working as this is past 12 hours? Is that correct or is it the case that as I feed on a daily basis the danilon is always within the system therfore the pain relief is constant??

Sorry for asking such a confusing and lenghty question, Any comments/thoughts would be much appreciated.

That's a good question, I give my horse his danilon in his breakfast and the rest of his supplements in the evening feed, could you do that ?

I see where you're coming from, I don't know the answer, I would think its like us taking ibuprofen, it only lasts til the next dose ?? dunno maybe as you say its in the system.

It will be interesting if there are any vets/nurses out there who know, I'll ask my vet next time I see him, I rang for a box this morning, I could have asked

Funnily enough I asked my vet recently about this as I'd noticed when feeding bute an hour before riding the horse was much more comfortable than if I left it until later. He told me that once the drug was fed it would take a little time before coming to a peak in its efficacy and then gradually tail off.

I have an arthritic horse-pet and when he has been on one Danilon daily I normally give him half for breakfast and half for dinner. This is in response to its 12 hour efficacy.

I would imagine that if he only had one in his breakfast, for example, he would be gagging for the next one by breakfast time.
