Hi
I was just wondering, what are your daily routines when you go to the yard (for those that have horses) so do you groom before you muck out? I am just being nosy, there isn't a particular reason, I was just wondering if there is a pattern or norm for these things!
So if you have the time to jot down the stuff... Please satisfy my curiosity!
Thanks :)
And sorry it is so strange a question :)

Mon-Fri
AM - Turned out by yard
PM - Muck out, make feeds & haynets. Bring in, groom, ride, put to bed.

Sat/Sun, same routine but reversed!
AM - Groom, ride, turn out. Muck out, make feeds & haynets.
PM - Bring in & put to bed.

I don't muck out as they aren't stabled - not very helpful am I?! I have them at home so if I am riding, the routine is catch them, put the youngster in the barn/yard. Groom mare, ride. Pick out both their feet, give the youngster a brush and do some general handling. Then feed them and turn out again. On non-riding days I just feed and do feet. Winter is the same only they have hay morning and evening if it's snowy, frozen or bad weather (we have loads of grass), and fresh water if it's freezing.

Exactly the same! Although I go down and turn out in the AM and the yard bring in in the PM, as I'm normally not back from work before the fields close :( (around 6 atm but earlier in winter)

Mine lives out, so tend to make haynet, catch and tie on the yard. Quick groom/pick feet, tack up and ride, turn hosepipe on to top up water while I make feed and put hay in the field, turn pony out, turn off water and tidy up.

Well, not quite the same as they live out - but my routine isn't very routine!

Always arrive at about the same time early morning, give or take 10 mins.
Then I either (a) (in case of really nasty weather) feed horse, check him over, do feet, then check other horses
or (b) give horse half a feed (few handfuls of chaff), groom, tack up, head out for an hour, return, give other half of feed, do feet, check others
or (c) groom, tack up, head out for short hack, return, feed horse, do feet, check others, leave.
Sometimes - if I have time - I will also do some field stuff (check electric fence, pull ragwort, fix gates, pick up rubbish.
Sometimes I also ride in the evening, so it's arrive, groom, tack up, ride out, return, check and clean hooves, leave.
I suppose it's only a routine to the extent that I am there at least once a day :) The other owners tend to do the evening shift :)

Bring in 7.15am mon-fri. Once a week (usually tues or weds) I'll ride so will get there for 6.15 and hack. Then he's put to bed and given breakfast, quick flick with a brush and sprayed with fly spray then left in peace.

Back to yard at 5.30pm-ish after work. Brush quickly then will ride/lunge a couple of times a week. Tied up outside then given dinner as I skip out, do hay and water then turn him out :)
