My lovely other half is buying me a body protector for Xmas. I have been looking at the hitair ones but have also been reading about the dainese ones.

I am wanting to wear it for hacking, fun rides etc and dressage so whichever one I have needs to be smart.

Which one shall I go for?

dainese are very very maleable and light ... you don't even know you are wearing it! I wear mine for everything - it is even ok under a show jacket.... It is not an inflatable though!!!!

I use my black hitair for hacking, fun rides, dressage and hunting. It's light weight enough that I don't really notice it even in the summer when it's really hot. (Remembering to unclip to get off to do the gate is always fun though!!) It appealed to me because it's got less material to it that the point2, so not as hot in the summer. Also, it inflates outwards.

I can't comment on the dainese ones as I've not heard of them - but I love my hitair. I bought mine after breaking my neck and although I will ride happily without it, it's nice to know that it's there if I come off again.

One for each so far!!! I like the hitair as it looks like it offers loads of protection. The dainese looks great too but is obviously alot cheaper!! Good to know that both will do my job tho!!

i actually have a point 2, a helix and a dianese...i use the dainese for schooling excitable horses and hacking, the point 2 for hunting the the helix is a spare!

No body protector is a magic forcefield and you can still sustain life-changing or even fatal injuries with the best on the market. That said:

I use a dainese motorcycle one, I feel it's of better construction (and the sizes were more varied so I could get one just right!) for me and my usage.
I would use a dainese equestrian one but mine does double duty. It's light, breathable and washable, though doesn't get too stinky. I also find it completely non-restrictive. And I find that helps my posture and therefore balance. I think the manchester d-store carries a full range to try if you could get up there.

Top tip is to set aside a bit to learn to fall at judo etc. Makes a really big difference!

I have 2 hit airs. a high viz and a black for hunting in. They are so light you dont know you have them. you actually miss not wearing it, i have developed a habit of putting my hands in it like the police do with their vests!.

set it off for the first time hunting on tuesday. no idea how i landed or what happened but i was ok! no whip lash and just some sore ribs i think caused by mobile in my pocket. My horse is 16.3 and we were going a bit so any fall from that height usually hurts. she spooked at me putting a water bottle back in my pocket and bolted! wont make that mistake, will just drink whisky from now on!

would 100% recommend an air vest if you can afford one!
