Daisy is acting weird...

First of all the history for those that don't know:
- Daisy has since 6 months old alternated between living with us and living with the MiL (do a search if you want the full background on that) and never shown any issues with doing so, being very confident and mannerly in both houses
- Two weeks ago the MiL died and Daisy is now with us permenantly
- Due to MiL's illness and subsequent funeral etc Daisy has spent various nights in various different places (but always with either myself, the OH or the OH's sister, all of whom she knows well) over the last 4 weeks
- Last weekend Daisy did her first Canicross meet and had a great time but one of the dogs (a greyhound) had the squits (didn't happen until after we'd let Daisy say hello)
- On Friday Daisy also had the squits (may have been from the greyhound, may also have been from some salmon skin we'd given her) and was feeling a bit sorry for herself
- Daisy still had soft stools Saturday morning but fine by Saturday afternoon and was looking brighter
- Today she has been absolutely fine on walks and is eating/drinking normally but in the house has been very quiet, hanging by the back door and then when let out just trying to lie in the soil...?

Now my assumption is that everything has just caught up with her and she is feeling a bit sorry for herself both from the bacterial infections/virus and all the upheaval but am a bit unsettled by this latest behaviour. Thoughts?
 
I am sorry about your MiL.
Is Daisy's colour ok? (gums etc)-and she's pooped etc all ok? temperature? (if you don't have one, get a thermometer in the NY, they're invaluable).

It could have all caught up with her-I forget how old she is? but the older they get, the more moving about upsets them ime.
 
Gums all look ok, poo all fine this morning (not sure this eve as OH took her out), I thought I had a thermometer but it's broken so is on the list for when shops are back to normal. She's 3 now.
 
I don't know what breed she is but is she particularly hairy sort? I know one of our collies used to feel the heat indoors terribly and would do the same if the house got to warm for her , hang about waiting to be let out and then just lay in the yard, even if it was raining to cool off. Just thinking if perhaps your place is hotter than usual today - it is very mild here but my kitchen where the dogs tend to be most of the time is way too warm - heating on and ovens going since early this morning with all the usual pre Christmas day cooking. Very sorry about your MIL.
 
Good thought but we don't do Christmas so no ovens on here :-/ we did put the heating on earlier in the day than usual as after laying in the soil first thing she was shivering a little so she may have been warm and we made it worse?
 
Possibly might be that then, and if she has been a bit under the weather and possibly running a temp then that would sort of make sense? I really hope she is back to normal very quickly, they do love to throw weird and inexplicable symptoms at us to just make sure they keep us on our toes. Lucky you BTW..no Christmas - if only! :rolleyes::D
 
Sounds like you've all had a tough time. I'm sorry about your mother in law.

I wonder if she's running a temperature hence the soil laying and shivering? I'd just keep a close eye on her for now I think. Keep checking her gums, eating, drinking, pooping, weeing and her breathing rate. Sounds like she's picked up a virus or something. I would prepare myself for a vet trip if she doesn't get better but wouldn't panic quite yet especially as it'll be an emergency call over Christmas!
 
Thanks PF, that's basically our plan. We're all a bit run down and suspect she is too, bless her. She just came running down the stairs at the sound of her food being tipped from the big bag into the smaller bag so can't be too unwell ;) (did slink back up to bed after she realised she wasn't getting any more treats though, bless)

Haha, there are relatively few perks to being Jewish, from what I can see the lack of Christmas stress is definitely one of them! :p (The OH does normally celebrate as is not Jewish but has decided this year he is going to join me in being a grinch, bless him ;) )
 
It could be that she has tummy ache... and lying on the cool earth feels nice.

Hoe she's OK and your parent's carpet has survived.
 
Weirdly her behaviour today (ignoring the being sick!) has been completely normal :-/ we're just feeding her a little bit every couple of hours, and spreading it out so she eats it more slowly, to see if she keeps it down. So far the the half a cup we've gave her at 4 has stayed down so she's just had another half cup 🤞 (usually 1.5 cups total twice a day)
 
Ok, now she's decided she's petrified of loud noises (OH dropped a picture on the floor) and is currently hiding upstairs refusing to come down (second time this has happened this week). Currently just ignoring her and trying to avoid reinforcing this behaviour, will treat her when she comes down. Can't wait to get her into a proper routine again, hopefully then all this weirdness will settle down!

Nothing is impossible as she goes spends time off lead (within sight) and eats grass occasionally (has done since a puppy) and chews sticks etc. Will take her to the vet if her physical symptoms get any worse but I do think this is more of a stress reaction combined with a bug of some sort.
