Had the greyhounds down at the vets for their passports to be completed and the vet asked if he could use one as a blood donor. They had a very sick Spaniel in that needed a transfusion and evidently greyhound blood is very good as high in red blood cells. So Daisy gave blood they took nearly a pint but could have evidently have taken more. Fingers crossed it did the trick for the Spaniel. We have offered that if the vets need blood anytime we are quite to take any of them down.

Well done Daisy! Obviously she doesn't usually sleep in your bed as she looks so out of place....NOT! Love the collar -where did you get it?

What is her preferred magazine to read after a hard day down at the vets? lol

She is usually too tired to read - typical greyhoung either eats, sleeps or races around no in betweens!

Aww, good for Daisy! Never enough doggy blood donors to go round sadly!

Our old GSD was always in demand, being a big lad & one who would happily sit there quietly for absolutely ages, just giving the occasional slurpy lick at the nearest vet nurse!

Big pat & cuddle for good girl Daisy! xx

Bless, did she get a drink of juice and a buiscuit?

I think this is a great idea. There is a national register of dogs available for providing blood. So anyone with a fit dogs willing to sign up, should have a think about this, they too could same a poorly pooch. Here is the website if anyone is interested. There is info on here about how it works and what age and health dogs have to be.

She seemed to think she deserved an extra big supper to regain her strength

. They didn't need to sedate her she just stood there while the nurses made a fuss of her although she did turn a bonio down at the end! Her neck was a bit swollen and slightly bruised the next day but it didn't bother her and you wouldn't notice now except for the shaved hair.
