Contractors are currently replacing a mains gas pipeline valve at a gas station adjacent to a Byway in Hertfordshire. As part of their security team they have installed some fendish 'Dalek' like pieces of equipment which state to passing horses in a loud electronic Irish accented voice 'You have been detected' and then brightly flashing lazer beams of light are emmitted at the passing horse(s). One horse rider was unfortunately thrown from their horse into the adjacent hedge and another horse riders horse bolted. I visited the site manager this morning and have explained the issues to him and his team and he has stated that he will arrange to move them. Yet another day in the exciting life of a BHS Access Officer!

I saw these on a site on one of my walking routes and wondered what they were!

Thankfully these ones only go off if you enter the site itself.

BT had to stick about 15 of these all alongside the roadside as someone kept digging up the copper round the cables ,,, they would replace it and two days later same thing again.

Whole village had no landlines and a lot of elderly residents with no ways of contacting people .

I luckily didn't have to hack past them but they are odd looking things !!

How scary for those involved.

oh is that what they do!! We have them in the railway siding near us (luckily not a road horse riders use) and we couldn't figure it out.

I wonder why the Irish accent?!!
