as above really i have a fab dales pony who the breeder recognised and said 99.999999% thats her plus we traced her back through sales so we are doing dna tests as we would like to breed from her (the foal is for me so no unessersery breeding going on really want a youngster and to do it all from scratch using intellegent horsemanship blah blah blah etc) and wondered what cross breeds would be nice as a gereral allrounder/ hunter

perhaps a tb/ warmblood cross have seen an arab cross dales which was nice

so anyone out there got any opinions or some photos would be great

My mum has a dales x welsh x Arab... He is now 23 years young and as strong as an ox, be rides and drives and is a total softy! We love him to bits... If you look on my face book Charlotte packham ( Brighton and hove network ) you can see pics of him x

Unoriginal but Dales x Hackney!

Takes some work to get them to extend as they lift their knees to start with but will do a winning Novice test, XC, hunt all day and seem to be reasonably sane (as far as you can generalise a breed!)

Pony in the picture is 14.3-15hh carrying 12st (OH). Which he does quite easily but wouldn't put too much more on. (sorry no hat in the picture he was holding my horse while I went to the loo after boxxing day meet)
Not sure if this is breed related but he retains fitness very well, so miles of hacking not necessary to get him fit.
He is 'just a cob' bone wise, and does well in cob classes and WH classes. No breed related problems yet but when he was little he brushed a bit with his over enthusiastic trotting (don't know if hackneys do this, his movement is straight so just a bit gangly when he was little)
