Does anyone know if this is going ahead this year? Planning my little 5 year olds 'season' and thought it might be a nice one to take him along to if it was running. Think its usually in July.

Also if anyone has any info on whether Kinnaird have any ODEs/HTs planned, or if Lanark and Upperward's HT at Douglas is likely to happen Id be very grateful :D

Not sure if it's running this year - I know it didn't run last year. Measles might know as I think it's her local PC that runs it.

I wouldn't recommend the Douglas HT - not the nicest of courses for a baby.

West Perthshire pony club are running a pick a fence competition in June, there is also a ODE at Kinnaird later in the year run by NEFRC. Craigie or Gleneagles might also be a nice one for baby horse?

Thank BeauBear. He is off to Gleneagles in a couple of weeks for his first outing. Then all going well will head to Drumlanrig in May. Unfortunately Im away the weekend of the PAF at Doune, it would have been a nice one. I remember doing Douglas years ago and thought it was very straightforward, has it changed recently?

I'll keep my eyes peeled for Kinnaird etc. Sure theres usually one at Houston too but its not advertised yet.

Thanks :D

There was a ODE at Houston last year but I'd heard that it wasn't running this year - no idea if it is true or not.

I found that the course at Douglas did not flow nicely at all compared to others that I've done. Some of the fences were tiny and some were pretty big - I specifcally remember a rather large ski jump parked on the middle of a slop in a pretty wooded area - so much so that you could barely get a straight line into the jump as you were having to dodge the trees.

What about Corsliehill? They might be running something this year?

Think Houston is off due to tree felling or something..... possibly for a couple of years but not sure how true that is. Need to speak to someone from K&KRC as they will know - you been back home recently?

Dalmeny didn't run last year so who knows about this year.

My OH took one of my lad's round the Douglas one when I fractured my foot and they managed to get round with about five stops. I was not pleased and J is never allowed to take M XC again after that performance! Sure I have course pictures somewhere. What about the auchenlishie one?

I would keep an eye on the PCs websites....and let us know if you find anything interesting

Was home the other day but never thought to ask! Might send mother on a walk round the estate to have a nosey ;)

I always remembered Douglas as being lovely. L did it a few years ago too. I havent done it myself for near 10 years and last time would have been round the open on a not very brave pony and we got round clear but it may be different now.

Auchlishie is still in my diary, but the entry fee is pretty steep for an unaff so will be waiting to see how he is going by then before entering!

I'll keep looking and see what i find and will keep you informed :)

Sadly I don't think Dalmeny is running this year or my OH would have been down to help prepare the course. As I understand it the estate is largely let now and it may be that complicates it's use for other activities. I know that at camp there each year there is a lot of activity around us. Enormously grateful to Lord and Lady Rosebery for the continued hosting of our camp - we've been there around 40years now and Lady Rosebery is always visiting the children and activities.

I really fancy drumlanrig this year, I used to help run it with my old college and I loved it!

I may have something to ride to. It's just the getting there.

Measles: thats a shame. However I understand the estate has to function in its own right and letting of the land may complicate things. Great they still have PC camp there though :D

Jenni: i love Drumlanrig, gorgeous wee course :) i only have a wee 3.5tonner or id offer you a lift, but would be overweight with 2horses on :(

Will keep looking for others to add to the list :)

Corsliehill is a nice course. It is run by the Lanark and Renfrewshire Hunt so details should be on their website.
