There are pictures a bit further down. History, he has been having a few tender back moments and as he is doing alot more lateral work we put it down to aching mucsles and had the back man . Monday he was tender on his back after work and hot but the sweat area was at the back and front of the saddle area . We washed him off[ big mistake ,I think].Tuesday he travelled two hours to ride an elem test for team trials when she took off his snuggyhood rug his back was a mess.
She did ride the test bareback and got over 70%.
He is now off work and will get saddle checked [ Wow saddle]He is difficult to fit as saddles roll on him, he used to wear an H girth but since last October he has been ok without it.
Any advice on how to help his back get better.
Thank you

Just looked at your other post and the skin peeling off is consistant with damage. You either have a very sensitive horse or your saddle does not fit at all! I personally believe wow saddles are great but not necessarily one saddle for life. How long ago was the saddle fitted? I have one for my horse and after about 2 years he has changed shape so much he actually needs a different panel type AND a different tree. Is there too much air in the panels?

In terms of treatment i would just keep the skin clean. Lots of grooming to get the blood flow into the skin and muscles, this will help repair. When you do ride again get a wool numnah, they are much better for the skin than other materials.
