Seems I have damaged a tendon in my left shoulder as a result of falling of a rather large ID whilst jumping. :(
Doc said it could be injected but would rather not atm as a risk of weaking the tendon due to need to inject diretly in to it. She preferes to let it heal naturally for a few MONTHS before taking that step.
She suggested I stop riding until its healed:eek: Silly person, like thats going to happen. Then suggested I alter my arm / hand position whilst ridng
Knew I should have booked appointment with the doctor that plays polo.

So, does anyone know of anything I can wear to support my shoulder whilst riding that wont restrict movement in it?

I have a trapped tendon in my right shoulder and had to have physio! My physio was great when I said I rode and showed me positions to put my arm in to stop the pain. Maybe see if u could get referred if you aren't already

Probably needs taping up. A phyiso could show you how but you might need assistance!

Are you sure you wouldn't like three months box rest with in hand walking to follow that though PM? :D

You need to see a good sport orientated physio ask around and find someone with recommendations you won't have to ask many riders or rugby players to find someone local.

Yep physio! I dislocated my elbow coming off horse - thankfully it got 'stuck' in a bent position so I could ride! I was lucky they couldn't decide if there was a fracture there so they got me straight to NHS physio. Otherwise I would have had to go private.
I also found Boots glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM tablets were fantastic. Or you could try NAF Superflex? :) You may find you will always have a weakness there and will need to keep exercising it.
I was very surprised by the lack of concern shown by the doctors at hospital. I always said I should have taken myself to the vets instead - they would have found out what was wrong!

They don't believe in strapping things up any more apparently as you need your muscles to support healing (I think - rather than rely on a supporting device). They wouldn't give me anything to support my arm. Or my husband's shoulder, he bust some cartilage and his shoulder is now permanently dropped (yuck).

I damaged my right shoulder about 2 years ago, have had physio, did'nt help much, I did'nt really rest mine at the time, so do rest it for a bit if you can, I know you can buy a shoulder support, have a look in a chemist, I also take Diclofenac daily, they do help, I have also been injected, helps for a while, but I have daily discomfort, next step is operation, but I am coping with it at the mo, hope it eases soon !
