Young girl at the yard has a 13hh 2 and a half year old newforest filly. She recently backed her and is now doing some school work with her and hacking her out. This girl has told me she weighs 13stone. I know newforests are hardy but I don't agree with a 2 and a half year old being ridden and also, the girl's weight is surely too much for the pony at this age? The pony does not look happy when ridden, is very downhill at the front as she is bum high and her ears and generally back. What will the long term damage be to this filly? Do others agree it is unacceptable?
