Despite my mega migraine due to my 2 hr journey yesterday ending up as 3 and 3/4 hrs so was late to get to dads. Who I was rushing up to look after while mum had her course.

I want to say thankyou to the (*(*%^&%^() idiot driver who drove a crane into the bridge causing the A 12 to come gridlocked and closed and surrounding roads blocked.all us drivers having to get lost and go cross country. Why don't you check your height load before attempting to go under:confused::confused::confused::confused:. Then the call the police and drive off is a cowards way out. You should have faced us and the police :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-22797943

Boy am I tired and in pain now due to this prat.:mad:

Drivers of tall vehicles or carrying a large load should be singled out by police and asked if they know the height of their load.

Hi, im a lorry driver, it is the drivers responsibility to know the height of his load and in lorry cabs [this also applies to horseboxes] there should be a height indicator which has to be set before comencement of the journey
artics can obviously swap trailers so the heights on these can vary, drivers have to know the height to the pin on the unit and the trailers have been measured giving a set pin height the driver has to calculate the difference if there is one to find out what the overall height is.
With abnormal loads such as a crane these rules still apply, i have not personally driven abnormal loads but i guess the driver will know the bed height of his trailer and the overall height of the crane so would be able to do the maths
the reason he didnt hang around is he new he was in the ****

No its not ... its no different than the dvla doing random spot checks on vehicle weights!!!! including horseboxes

Sorry to correct you but VOSA are responsible for spot checks.
So be scared all ye drivers of over loaded 3.5 tonne and 7.5 tonne horseboxes.
P.S they can also check you are operating within the law with regards to tachograph law

yes your right sorry migraine yesterday could not think of the right company

For a minute I thought O.P. referred to the crane driver who turned out to be a "cherry picker" driver rather than a crane - sadly he seems to have tipped the machine over and the resultant fall from 130ft killed him.

The fall landed him on the hardshoulder of the M25 and though this is a tragic incident for all those concerned - is it really necessary to close the flippin' lane off for days afterwards??

There have been streams of traffic exiting the M25 at junction 17 and blocking our local roads for three days - what purpose does that serve?

I would put ex-aircraft carrier captains in charge of all motorways and major transport links -they have the right experience to know the importance of traffic flow.

Its one thing the crane or cherry picker falling and another driving under a bridge with the height load taller that the bridge. I would never take my horsebox (12ft tall ) under a 10 ft bridge

What on earth does a cherry picker on the M25 have to do with the crane driver at Kevedon on the A12 yes A12 not M25 have to do with it???

The article clearly states this http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-22797943.

I am also referring to the large heighted vehicles who's drivers do not check the heights of their load before going under a bridge!!!

Through this action they causes deaths destruction and damage.

The articles below happen all to frequently: as you see by the two articles and the same bridge:rolleyes:

How can this be normal unless he wanted to turn the double decker into a single deck.

.........

Its also important for horsebox owners to know their height s of their boxes as some petrol garages ( small village ones) have low roofs.

Overreacting a little bit?

Definitely !

Yes the accident was avoidable and probably exceedingly annoying if you got caught up in it, but hardly worth all the expletives that the OP was using !

PS to OP, would you mind changing your signature as it is irritating and probably against the rules for advertising. Thank you.

NO I will not change my signature for many reasons.
  • You have no authority even if you think you do.
  • I cannot see how it is irritating, your the only one who has said this.
  • Its NOT against the rules
  • Its not advertising

H & H are fully aware of the site and have okay-ed it. I have been through it with them and Know the score what can and cannot be in the site, its run strictly by their rules. It has been running 2 years and has helped many members. Members have been kind enough to let their tips or knowledge be shared with others .

only just last night I got a compliment for it.

Hi Leviathan - just stumbled across your link to your Horse Care and Advise website and just wanted to say - fantastic and thank you very much!
There is no advertising on the site, if you bothered to open your eyes and see what it says.

For you I will explain it simply its just Horse and Hound readers experiences useful tips and old threads which will be of interest to up coming and on going members, so it breaks NO rules.

Some don't like searching through 100's threads for something so this is where its stored

So Until Horse and Hound admin tell me otherwise. Its staying, others find it useful. Which is its sole purpose and intention................

In order:
1) I never said I did - I posted my request openly as I did not wish to do what many others do which would be to report it anonymously behind your back
2) In order to draw the eye, people may colour text, make it bold or put it in capitals, you have done all of them, if you used just one of these options it would be easier on the eye.
3 + 4) I did say probably against the rules as advertising is against the rules, obviously if H&H have agreed to you keeping the link on then they are happy that it isn't.

My main problem was seeing every other post being taken up by a large in your face signature that drew the eye away from the actual text and due to the number of comments you had posted close together made reading the thread hardwork.

People can report it all they like its had the all clear I have nothing to worry about. I am sure if there was anything it it that is not allowed they would have told me. But since its just like a library and been posted in my sig for 2 1/2 years with no comment, then they are happy specially with the long chat with the fat control running through everything with me.

The reason H&H is happy is because its not a profit sight
personal site
promoting
advertising items for sale

Everything it it is what H&H members have written or used so there is no reason not to post link.

Well UI button is there for the use of.

If I change my sig it because I want too . NOT ! other comment has been said about it. I will not change for 1 individual.

Do you find there is much call to identify poisonous plants native to Colorado? Outside the US that is?

Also the contact details are for a horse masseuse, who is that if not you?

And it seems 1 or 2 people are being nasty, good grief what's in a name and yes I can understand her woe's, I'd be Bl**dy furious, because of someone elses incompetence I was held up for several hours.

Well considering this is a UK site its obviously aimed at UK people. Though I am sure some of Europe have these plants.
The rest of the site is worldwide info. Why I am bothering to justify some of the sites info I do not know.

Its not hard to work out
  • Click on horse masseuse you get links
  • click on contact me that is if you want to add anything to the site
. Both those heading are 2 separate headings.

??? I am no horse masseuse thank you . Though I would like to be maybe I could have given my late mare a masseuse every day while she was on box rest instead of paying Penny Hooper to come down at £ 50 a pop.

Thank you Echo Bravo :)my main worry was to get to my dad , as mum had to go leaving him alone, and he gets confused if he gets panicked with his Dementia.
