I was wondering about your opinions on people like Mary Ray, heal wrk to music etc.

I dont agree with it but what do u think?

I have collies nd couldnt imagine them being like that! And our greyhounds would just think we were stupid.

Is it just one step to far or does it show their intelligence?

Thought it would be a gd talking piont

Whilst I don't think the dogs themselves really mind - I do think it is similar to circus tricks and I must admit I don't really like it.

I love it.
The dogs are obviously obedience trained 1st & progress from there.
Mary Ray obviously has a great rapport with her dogs, provides great entertainment for old & young alike & encourages people to do more with their pets.
There is a lady who does heelwork to music from a wheelchair, the expression of joy on her face is priceless.

ooooooo I love it, in fact just been having a go with my doggie!

I used to go to HTM classes and could all the dogs were having a great time, and were loving it. The woman who ran them has met mary ray herself and does displays and competitions. Her dog looks like its having the time of his life at displays!

This is just my opinion, hope I havn't offended anyone!

I think it is great! In fact ever since I saw it Ive been practising with my mastiffs. They open their eyes when the music starts and are quite good at snoring in time to Gold Finger!!! Other than that I dont think they are that impressed. Guess we'll stick to dog agility!!!

I think for dogs that suit it absolutely great as it keeps them stimulated. I don't agree however that it is an indication of intelligence at all. Intelligence should not be confused with willingness to please.

I think its brilliant her dogs obviously love doing it and love her otherwise they would not do it, it would be my dream to have my dog so focused on me to be able to perform something as amazing as that with so many distractions around her. Well done mary

I'm afraid I think it is ridiculous!!

Dogs would not behave like that... ok the through the legs etc fine.... BUT the jumping around on back legs just isn't right?!?

What sort of unnatural stress/strain must that put on their bodies?!

they weren't designed to walk upright!!

I am not too sure about the whole thing. The dogs must be very well trained to do all the moves however I find it a bit twee if you get my meaning.

I can get the Ghound dancing and prancing shame I have to wave a bacon butty in the air to do it lol

I think it was fab the first time round but is quite boring now, she needs to think of some new routines.

Her dogs obviously enjoy doing it but its not something I'm interested in.

I think the word "twee" sums it up personally.
However the dogs appear very happy and certainly willing so its a case of "each to their own" I guess!!

I agree, i really dnt think it belongs at a place like crufts

I see your point but then if that's the case nothing really belongs at Crufts except the rings and the dogs that are showing as it is first and foremost a dog show. That would mean no agility, no flyball, no shopping

LOL.

It could all be taken out of proportion if people thought like that. It's in there for the entertainment.

It's only obedience I suppose, I don't imagine the dogs take much notice of the music anyway. What I can't cope with is the daft costumes some people wear, they do look a tad on the silly side.

i was just wondering how one can say it is a no no for dancing dogs as unnatural yet we have horses piaff-ing, yielding, half passing etc so those who say the heel work to music is a nono i take it you disagree with dressage and other sports with animals as something is only natural if not made by another?
