Dandruffy skin

My TB mare has what looks like a bad case of human dandruff where her main joins her neck, along the length of her neck.

Her coat is shinny but in some places there seems to be slight hair loss and dry skin (not flakey though) underneath. She also has two small patches on her face that are really flakey.

She isn't itchy, appart from liking a head scratch after riding, and I can't see any lice..

Any advice as to what it could be?

my mare gets like this sometimes - areas of dry scurfy skin, although it doesn't seem to bother her. I usually put a small amount of oil in her feed for a week or so to get it gone, that and regular really thorough grooms to get rid of the dry stuff. She does have a tendency to dry skin though, so she usually gets a little oil every other day in her tea to keep her skin nice, oddly she always has a gleaming coat so I'm not sure why she gets odd dry bits!

A dollop of corn oil in her feed every day should sort that out very quickly for you.
