dangerous !!!! it scared me a bit !!!

i was walking my boy back to the field earlier when this car came flying round th corner(country road) so i waved my hand slowely up and down to ask him to slow down,then as he got alongside me i said *this isnt a race track* for me i thought i was very reserved as normaly id be shouting !!!

well he gets just past me then slams on his brakes and tyre's screeched !!!! but then he wacked it in reverse and started flying backwards towards me !!!! by this time i was starting to crap myself as i had no idea what he was going to do(i can handle him mouthing at me but i thought he was going to run into us) so luckily for us another car came up behind so he couldnt get close enough to us anyway he then put it in first and screeched off down the road leaving marks !!!
i really didnt know what he intended to do or why he thought that was clever
i only got half his reg number as i was to worried about earl and getting reversed over

i have rang the police and i will be looking out for the driver as he prob uses it as a short cut

earl was fine and very good he wasnt phased by the whole incident but i was

Sadly drivers do not like being "told" what to do, even if they are driving badly in the first place and are being politely asked to slow down. My dad once said to me, everyone thinks they drive better than everyone else and the only good drivers are the rare few who take advice or directions. Obviously this idiot was one of those stupid brainless individuals who thinks he is the best driver in the world and will not take advice/direction from others.
They say a car is a dangerous weapon - I think people are far more dangerous!
I'm glad neither of you got hurt, and I hope this idiot gets caught!
 
we got the council to put signs up either end of our village to say that there are horses around so he will get extra done if he gets cought !! no believe me i normally do worse hand signs than slow down on a daily basis and noone has ever done this before !!!!! there is only room for one car most drivers wait behind untill we are of the road but not this arse !!!
 
We too have very narrow country lanes and cars drive round them at such a fast speed. I know it can be very scary when the drivers are agressive as well as reckless.
Whether you are leading or riding I think it is a good idea to wear hi viz gear. I know some people think its a bit un cool but when you are driving there is something instinctive in us all about slowing down for a flurorescent person in front of us! I suppose we all think it must be the police!
Something happened to me once when the man actually got out of the car and shouted abuse at me. I was very upset and also quite scared. I was sure I would see the driver again, but in 6 years riding down that road, I never have. Lets hope you dont come across your Mr Nasty ever again....
 
Similar happened to me out hacking one day, I nutter driving at around 60mph down a long straight but country lane refused to slow down so my friend & I gave him the Harvey Smith Sign 'V' with that he turned round and drove at us at great speed we just got off the road and our horses jumped the bank/ditch that was running along side the road. I can tell you I have never offered so much as a nasty stare at another driver since!!! We contacted the police with part details and found out a few days later that he. a 70yrs old man!! had been arrested for the same thing with another rider.
 
Hmmm TBH paintbox you flagged him down, he slowed down to a speed that meant you could say "this isn't a race track" and for him to hear, so IMO he did what he should have, and the only words to come out of your mouth should have been "Thank You" - or am I missing something (quite possible!)
 
alot of people use it as a short cut and mostly locals so hopefully i will see him but when i havnt got the horse !!!

he did see me and my huge chunky 17hh horse he only stoped and tried to to come back to shout at me or scare my horse,just an arrogant git

the lane is rite outside my house ive lived here for 30 years and the drivers love bombing round here like idiots !!
 
One tip I read aimed at cyclists is to turn round and make eye contact with driver as they approach from behind. Apparently, they (we as well, I suppose, when driving) are more likely to slow down and less likely to mow you down if they've seen the whites of your eyes. Sorry you had a horrible experience.

he just kept coming he didnt hear me as his window was closed and i didnt shout it,you could tell how fast he was still going when he past me as his tyres screeched to stop in the first place then screeched again in reverse then when he bombed of down the road !!
my brother was down by the river on the farm and ran up because he heard it and knew that i had just taken earl out !!!
 
no this stupid driver wasnt behind me he was 50 yards up the road coming towards me then once he had past he then reversed back up the road behind us heading towards my horses bum !!!

No u'r not, I was thinking the same thing my self! Not that I'm condoning the way he drove or the way he obviously tried to intimidate you after, I still agree with what weezy has said, a simple 'thankyou' for acknowledging your request and slowing down, would have been suffice.

as i said above he didnt slow down at all he didnt hear what i said !!! just seen me look at him and my mouth move and he got angry

i always thank everyone that slows down and waits for me to get off the road,ive been walking up this road for years either with my horse or my 10 year old son and i always thank drivers even if im without my horse

i have never seen this happen before

lol its ok,yes he did act like a w*nker so much so that my brother was keeping on to me to report it normaly he wouldnt say that to me but that mans actions were uncalled for and dangerous
