Danilon being sold on Ebay!!!!!

Do you not have to provide your prescription number etc on completion of sale? I was shocked seeing an ad for bute on here yesterday in that little google box on the right hand side but when I clicked on the link it said you needed a prescription to get it.

ETA have just looked at the listing, seems it's a private seller. Very irresponsible IMO. Wouldn't it be illegal??

I would have thought that was wrong

yes its prescription only, a few oldies on my yard are on it and I know for certain you need a prescription. Online places do sell it but you still have to get a prescription and then your vet has to provide details to the supplier before they will give it to you!

Report it!

Carys it's a private seller - I *think* she's lost her horse and is selling off the excess drugs!

I think she says in the description that her horse has arthritis but has been sound for 18 months so she doesn't need them anymore....I didn't think Arthritis was something you could get over......

She might've found an alternative treatment. Cod liver oil and apple cider vinegar are reputed to be marvellous for arthritis.

Bute, ACP, steroids, wormers etc, etc, are freely available here in Argentina. I've said this before and I'll say it again (and this is not directed at you Tri_Konj); if someone is going to use drugs illegally/inappropriately on their horses, they'll get hold of them one way or another. Having bute and ACP readily available here has NOT turned anyone into a mad horse-drugger (and I spend A LOT of time at my yard and keep my eyes open). I think some controls are necessary, but OMG how absurd that wormers are now POM!!!

I would just worry that someone who didn't have horses would buy it. I know that Ketamine is a very popular 'recreational drug' in this country so I'm sure dealers would try and make a quick buck out of this stuff? Just my opinion, I could be miles off.

I wouldn't have sold it on ebay, but when one of my old dogs died rather suddenly, I'd an unopened box with a rather expensive and unusual drug left. I asked my vets if they had any other clients that would be interrested in getting this box for free, because I just had this thought that it would make my dogs death an even bigger waste, if her medicine was taken back to the pharmacy to be destroyed.
Luckily they had someone that needed and wanted it, they even insisted on paying almost half the fullprice for it, but I was ready to start call around to all vets in Ghotenburg or nearby, if they didn't have someone who wanted it. What I should have done if I still haden't found anyone who needed it, I don't know, but if the only option left was ebay or the pharmacys wastedisposal, I'm sure I would have choosen the last option.

But I'm afraid that I'm very judgemental about hearing such items being available on ebay, stolen or fakeproduct is my only thoughts.

I know of vets that doesn't take back, and vets that does take food back, I'm not sure about the refund part though. But I got the feeling it was rather rare, maybe even unheard of before, when I contacted my vet about my late dogs medicine, and about the refund, I offered it for free to anyone who could use it, because with my dog just having died, money really didn't matter one bit to me, but the one who got it didn't think it felt right to not pay, so we agreed about less than half the price.
