Hope you can all help ....

Does just one sachet of Danilon work - or do you have to go through the loading phase i.e. 2 packets twice a day for 2 days then 1 packet twice a day for 3 days then 1 packet per day.

Just my mare is getting older and I think just occassionaly she would benefit from the odd packet of Danilon, say maybe once or twice per week depending on what she has been doing - but I dont want to have to feed it all the time?

Thanks

Teagan

Have you gone down the route of other mobility supplements? I think feeding danilon on a regular basis on older horses can cause stomach upsets? How old is she?

I think that there is little use in giving one every so often. I had a horse on Danillon for a few months prior to loosing him. He would get either 1 full satchet a day or half a day, depending on how he was 'feeling'.

But chat with your vet and see what they say.

Danillon is much kinder on the system than bute, and much less likely to cause problems when used on a daily basis.

I feed half a sachet a day if I am riding and if I am not riding I don't. It does make a difference. I second AmyMay on danilon being much kinder on the system than bute.

I suggested to my vet that I kept merlin on one sachet a day (he is around 470kg) after he was diagnosed with arthritis.... but the vet said that it wasnt enough to warrent using it at all.

All horses will have a different reaction though, so maybe it would work for you like it does for justjoules' horse.

You can only try it and see if it makes a difference
