Not having had the vet out for treatment for a while rather out of touch with this stuff, is it used in place of bute and is it only availble from vets??? cos it is for sale on ebay but from reading posts I took it, it was a vet prescribed medication

It should only be prescribed by a vet - yes it is instead of bute.

It should only be available from the vet. I use Danillon instead of Bute when possible. It's more palatable, and kinder on the system.

I would be worried about buying it off of Ebay in case it wasn't the real thing. There have been all kinds of scams on there with people passing stuff as something it isn't.

We always use Danillon in preference to bute for the reasons stated by AmyMay.

Yep it is instead of bute. Its sugar coated and therefore kinder to the gut apparently. I'd be wary of getting it from anywhere apart from my vet.
