I have just applied to rehome a Darley Racehorse.

Has anyone dealt with this rescue place before or even have one of their horses?

If so, how did you find dealing with them and how long did it take for them to contact you?

They only ask £100 + VAT to rehome a horse, which seems very cheap in my opinion.

yes I had a horse called Fight Your Corner. I was recommended to them and had him straight away. it really depends on what kind of horse you want as to how long they will take to get in touch. They have a lot of horses that have previous injuries that would prevent them from jumping. So if you want a jumping horse you may wait longer.
Its not about the money there is is about the right home which I think is fab. Rocky (my horse) was a fab little horse and did everything I wanted him to do and more but unfortunately we had to put him to sleep due to a cyst in his stifle.

Thank you, and so sorry to hear your horse had to be pts.

I have asked for a horse that can jump so I may be waiting a while. I think I may call them to day for a chat and see if they have anything suitable.

I was recommended them by a friend. I put in an application and had a reply but then never heard anything back, that was prob 8 months ago if not longer! I sent emails to follow up on proceedings during that time but still had no reply! I ended up advertising for a horse on some FB pages and have ended up with an absolute gem (ex racer) and i love him to bits :)

Maybe i was unfortunate with Darley but i would not recommend them to anyone purely from my personal experience. I am sure there are lots of people who have only good things to say tho ;)

We applied for a horse from them & they never got back in touch with us, we enquired at a few trainers direct & got a horse from a trainer instead.

Darley are under new management now .. Jo the new manager is my YO's wife and she is fantastic with her horses .. There is another post on here that was done about them a couple of weeks ago .. But if horses are coming from Jo she will be the most honest and trustworthy lady to get one from, I'd imagine that there getting a bit busy with racehorses, I would personally ring her and speak to her over the phone, just say that you have heard from other people that the process took quite long and some people didnt hear back, tell her what your looking for etc and she will probably match you with the horse or if nothing suitable she would keep in touch with you.

I personally wouldn't give up on what other people have said, Jo has been there for about 8months now so id imagine things would be a bit slow until she managed to get her foot in the door and get settled..

Brillant lady and plus my mare (also ex racer) trusts her brilliantly and that can be hard with my mare..

If I ever look for another i would go to her :)

This is really good to know, thank you.

I tried to calling them at lunch time but no answer so I will try again later. I always think it's best to talk to people directly rather than filling out millions of forms on the internet!

I really hope they have a horse that is suitable to me :)
