I think I have posted before about my 'broken' mare who keeps getting up to mischief

and making my life difficult...

She's out in the field for the year, but seemingly bored and gets up to lots of mischief, which also includes jumping over the electric fence whenever it suits. I have a 7 acre field split in half by electric fencing, as well as a schoolin area etc fenced off, I quite often come down to find her where she's not supposed to be.

So last night I am bringing them in for their evening feed and groom....my stables have a little yard infront of them which is post and railed off seperating it from the field. So I get her in first as other horse is ambling over in his own sweet time...

Imagine I have put her in stable, am in process of shutting the door as she ram raids me out of the way, flinging door back, me making a grab for the headcoller.....does a one-two stride-bounce-god knows what across the yard and jumps over the p&r fence and p*sses off over the field

I am serisously wondering what she is going to do next.....apart from the fact she is meant to be lame, she seems to like bouncing around rather a lot.....

Darn, stupid, irritating mare

If it makes you feel any better I got the yard lad to trot my mare up today as she was lame yesterday, and she bloody well bolted all the way round the track and scared the guy doing the fencing half to death, needless to say she was lame again when I managed to catch her! GRRRRRR

Ooh, poor you... I'd have been very tempted not to give her her feed & groom if she'd done that to me! (Actually, maybe she has a bit too much/high energy feed if she is out of work?)

You know what I was very very tempted to leave her out but as she is rugless and what with all the rain recently I like to give her a quick flick over to keep her coat from matting to try and prevent rain scald.....

Her feed consists of a mug of lo cal balancer and a sprinkle of hi-fi good doer.....but she has access to good grass 24/7 (albeit through her muzzle

I feel for you. My new 4yo, TB mare keeps jumping out of her field and the other day I fell off her in the arena (after a huge brain falling out moment re some mini shetlands galloping right next to her) and she jumped out of the bloody school (5' high post and rail) and spent 10 mins galloping round with my yard owners posh dressage horses

Poor you although maybe shes trying to tell you shes feeling better...

A horse on our yard has developed this habit

It's worrying as you can never tell if/ where she's gone and so the owner has to keep going up to check her as due to field bullying at the moment she can't move into a field with her "buddies."
