My physio recommended him to me today - just seen he's based/lives in Colchester though, which is a little far for me.

Anyone know if he only trains there, or whether he'll travel out to a course a bit closer to me?

Too scared to phone straight out and find he'll just be too far!

Thanks

David is lovely and an EXCELLENT trainer I used to have fortnightly lessons with him up there

The ground is lovely up there they (him and Lisa) do the lessons on their grass and it is good ground all year round.

Not sure if he comes out much for individual lessons I know he does clinics, def worth the travel though!

He's not our cup of tea as a trainer but you wont know unless you try ! He owns Kiln Saddlery at Layer De La Haye just outside of Colchester. He is a very nice man though, dont be shy, give him a ring !

Cambridgeshire - have to admit...I have appalling geography skills

I've just done an AA search and it'll be about 2hrs tops in the lorry. So if, he's as good as I've heard he is - it should be worth it.

Other slight worry - my horse has plenty of jump, SJ we school over 1.10/1.15m courses but I have very limited XC experience, thus wanting a proper lesson to learn how I should really be riding it, and have only really been jumping 3ft stuff when we go schooling. Will he be ok teaching a novice like me!?

Where abouts in Cambridgshire, there are lots of good jump trainers visiting the area, John Adams is good and teaches around Duxford, John Thelwall also comes to area.
Sharon Hunt (Olumpic rider) is based between Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill.

I work for David Merrett, and am very frtunate enough to see and experince his teaching styles and actually he is very good at what he does. He will cater for everyone as he does alot for Essex and Suffolk Pony Club too.

Dont be affraid to ring him directly or Kiln Saddlery. Very very good experience to come and have a lesson/clinic with David!!

what about Tina Ure at Ely Eventing Centre (where they run Little Downham BE), she's really excellent.

^^^ what she said. Tina is very good with the added advantage that there are all types of XC jumps on her doorstep (literally).
