thank you to all who replied to my 'working pupil' thread! all very helpful and interesting.

i have found that david pincus will take on working pupils and am seriously considering him!

Working pupils receive accommodation, food, a daily guaranteed dressage lesson on school masters, training and instruction and an opportunity to help and observe the training of horses from Novice to Grand Prix, opportunity to enrol on BHS courses and the option of bringing their own horse free of charge if it is suitable to receive instruction on, some competing for long term students. This package in return for stable work.

this suits me down to the ground! and id be looking to take a placement for about a year (may be longer depending on circumstances), but was wondering what other peoples ideas are on him, or his yard, training methods etc etc!
or has anyone on here been a working pupil for him? and could you give me a little info on the experience? :)

They bred my mare, and although she is a miserable cow, she was well put together and trained. Don't know much about his methods, but his daughter seems to do well. His place is Sheepcote Equestrian isn't it?

Hi, I was trained by David for about 8 years when I was eventing (sadly I had to give up and get a 'proper job' in London). He is an amazing instructor who brings out the best in all sorts of horses (I had everything from my Pony Club 15hh skewbald eventer who went intermediate to a couple of lovely thoroughbreds who competed at OI level). Obviously I wasn't a working pupil but I would take the horses and go and stay at Sheepcote for a week at a time so I have experienced what it's like to be there. He expects hard work and 100% commitment both on the yard and in lessons and will shout if he doesn't think you're trying but the results are incredible. I'm currently looking to buy a new young horse and return to eventing and I will definitely go back to David for my dressage as I don't think there's anyone to touch him.

Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions. Good luck.
