So if any of you was following my thread "Dilemma" last night, I was considering selling Rosie. However her hacking difficulties and stubbornness made her unsellable. So I vowed to get some hacking work done today with her.
So instead of riding her in her usual French Link I was advised to put a Pelham on her (which worked like a treat!). Anyway, our first exercise was to get her used to being mounted in the yard and being walked in and around the field. It taken at least 45 minutes to get on her without her trying to bomb off into the field, but at least she did it in the end! Then I walked her into a field (spare, of course) and at this point she decided to start being a moody mare and backing up, spinning ect but once again after a while she calmed down, she was very forward at this point but start working as lovely as she does in the school
After a 30 minute schooling session in the field (Which may I add had other horses in the next field) she was ready for a relaxing walk off, As she was being calm by now I decided to take her up a small 2 mile grass run next to the school, Going away from the yard and leaving her buddies was hard for her at first as she was doing a lovely half passage for about half a mile with her head high in the air
However once again she settled and relaxed and we enjoyed a nice walk off up the run. On the way back she decided to try and bolt back home but I luckily managed to stop her and taken her back up the run to walk back to the stables the correct way
I'm very proud of my moody mare today! Thanks for reading
