Hi All
Just wondering if someone can point me in the right direction for Day Insurance. I have found a local company that is just starting up, but are not set up for Self Drive as they only have 'Hire and reward' Insurance. The owner was happy for me to arrange my own insurance - but I cant find any short term cover (2 days). I'm over 25 with a full clean licence - the issue is that I cant find anyone to cover me!
I have tried:
E&L
Tempcover.com
e.carinsuance.co.uk
Dayinsure.com
Daycover.com
Insuredaily.com

The Equi-trek Sonic looks fantastic, and is just what I'm after for a couple of days. The price I have been quoted is excellent.... if only I could get insurance!!!

Please help

PS - I'm in Central Scotland - so its not even a high risk area!

H, sorry to say I don't think you'll get short term insurance, especially as you don't own the box unless you already have a box insured & can add this for a day/week. Tried similar for a tow vehicle & found this out. Are the hirers able to add you to their policy as an additional driver?

Hi Carys
Thanks for the reply. Good suggestion.
Mandy is going to ask the insurers for me on Monday. she is being dead helpful but has explained that the insurance for self drive was going to add £1900 to the insurance! Ouch!

Has anyone hired a self drive box? can you remember who did the insurance by any chance?

FYI E&L can cover trailers for short hire periods - but don't do motorised transport!

The "no motorised" cover is probably because a horsebox comes under the road traffic act but a trailer doesn't. Good luck with getting it sorted.
