Day rate for stable services

My horse is currently kept at a nice full livery yard. However, for various reasons I am thinking of moving. I use a full livery yard due to my other time commitments. I have provisionally been offered a place at a nice yard with good facilities, starting at the beginning of February, but the other yard is DIY only. I have until the end of December to decide if I want to take it up or not.

I have a good, and very competent, friend on the new yard who has offered to take on the care of my horse for the times I wouldn’t be able to get there, but I would want to pay her for services, rather than enter into some sort of a reciprocal arrangement. So how much is a fair day rate for turn out, muck out, bring in, feed, hay, rugs etc - all the usual stuff involved in the daily care of a horse (obviously more work in winter than summer) ? My friend has two horses at the yard so would be there every day for them, and she would be taking on mine as an extra. She has the time to do the work and I have no issues with her ability to do a good job.

I also need to take into account all the other extras I would be buying ( hay, feed, bedding etc) which are included in my current livery deal, so am trying to work out if the move would be practicable financially as well as practically. Thank you for any advice.
 
So I'm a YO that supplies services to my liveries. I worked out what I wanted to charge per hour. I then time each service, ie mucking out, and charge per the amount of time. However when I have freelancers working on the yard they are paid an hourly rate - between £12-£15 per hour dependent on experience. May be worth discussing with your friend but an hourly rate is possibly easier.

In theory we pay £10 per day flat rate.

Grooms are self employed and often charge me less because I do haynets and bag feeds in advance and all 3 of my horses lead together so there is less for them to do. So they're really thinking about their time too.

I can do all 3 of mine in under an hour when hay and feeds are done.
 
It's £12 a day at my yard, it's the same winter and summer and all the freelance grooms (who work there every day and have their horses there too) charge the same.
 
The livery yard I am on charges the DIY liveries £22 a day for full day care.
The freelancer I sometimes use is £15 an hour for a minimum of an hour. When I have done it for fellow liveries I charge £12.50 in the summer, and £15 in the winter.
 
I think it depends if they are already on the yard or you have to get someone from outside, also if there is a contract for perhaps five days a week. If someone is on the yard, perhaps £15, on some sort of contract £10-£15, from outside, £20. I would also agree in writing what you are paying for, and they have insurance.
 
where i am if its staff already on the yard, about £10 a day is the going rate. £15 if horse is disgusting to muck out, a million supplements to do etc.
